Artist Statement
My art has taken many forms throughout my life; earlier in my career I was drawn to stained glass design, glass blowing, silk painting, and ceramic sculpture. Later, I decided to turn my attention to two dimensional works with a focus on oil painting.
I was fortunate to study for four years at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, this enabled me to develop my skills as a painter. The core of my work is color interacting with forms. I utilize a variety of subjects, including portraits, still life and the human figure. My special love is the portraiture, being able to capture not just an individual's likeness but also something of their essence and mood.
My hope is to share visually what originally delighted me as a child , along with the emotional complexity I see as an adult.
